Professor Brandon Wainwright AM Appointed Director and CEO of QIMR Berghofer

The RCD Foundation congratulates Professor Brandon Wainwright AM on his appointment as Director and CEO of QIMR Berghofer.

An internationally recognised geneticist and leader in medical research, Professor Wainwright has dedicated his career to advancing scientific discovery and translating research into better outcomes for patients.

We are proud to partner with Professor Wainwright and his team at The University of Queensland on the Brain Cancer Vaccine Project – a groundbreaking initiative exploring the development of an mRNA vaccine for children with brain cancer.

With limited treatment options and high relapse rates, the project aims to harness immunotherapy to train the immune system to recognise and attack paediatric brain tumours, beginning with ependymoma. This three-year, $2.4 million initiative represents an important step towards more targeted and effective treatments for children facing brain cancer.

We look forward to continuing our collaboration with Professor Wainwright and wish him every success as he leads QIMR Berghofer into its next chapter.
