This April, Victoria will hold its inaugural Brain Cancer Awareness Week. Thanks to the tireless efforts of our very own Celia Williams, the RCD Fund will work with other cancer organisations to make this an impacting event. We will have a chance to educate the public, communicate with researchers and celebrate mind over matter.
Many people are still unaware that brain cancer is one of the most lethal yet understudied of all cancers. For our fund to have success, it is just as important to raise awareness of the disease, as it is to raise funds.
New South Wales have held a Brain Cancer Action Week every year since 2007, and have pledged over $11 million towards brain cancer research. Cancer Council NSW is the biggest non-government funder of brain cancer research in Australia. We at RCD hope to emulate their success in Victoria.
